WHAT IS “DISASTER PREPAREDNESS”?

Disaster preparedness refers to the proactive measures taken to minimize the risks and impacts of natural or human-made disasters.

It involves planning, organizing, and implementing strategies and actions to enhance the ability of individuals, communities, and organizations to respond effectively to emergencies and mitigate potential damage.

The goal of disaster preparedness is to reduce the loss of life, injuries, property damage, and disruption caused by disasters.

It focuses on being ready for various types of emergencies, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, wildfires, pandemics, and terrorist attacks.

OUR COMMUNITY IS NO STRANGER TO THE IMPACT OF NATURAL DISASTERS.

Disaster preparedness for a wildfire or other natural event affecting a rural community involves taking proactive steps to minimize the risks, ensure the safety of individuals, and protect property.

Thank you to the Upper McKenzie Community Center and the various sponsors for hosting this important annual event for our community!
