What did we learn and how can we be better prepared?
The recent ice storms in the valley have left many communities without power and important necessities for over a week.
Our river community is not new to these types of events, but we want to encourage everyone to be well prepared in the future.
The Upper McKenzie Community Center is facilitating a Disaster Debriefing on February 3rd from 1-3pm to hold conversations about what we can do to help prepare ourselves for future natural disasters that may leave us without power, water, transportation, and supplies for days or even weeks.
We’ll be discussing topics such as planning and preparedness, communication channels like GMRS radios and internet options, agencies and organizations working together, supplies and equipment (such as generators), and community needs.
