Community Input on Blue River Drive Designs Endorsed

Development of new designs for downtown Blue River are approved with community’s input

Thanks to the community feedback on the design options for Blue River Drive, the design team has developed designs that the Lane County Public Works Transportation Team believe meet the identified needs. The Oregon Solutions McKenzie Rebuilds Blue River Workgroup reviewed and endorsed the designs at their meeting on September 19th 2023.

The key design features are:

  • West of downtown – a multi-use path for walking and biking separated from the road with a vegetated swale
  • Downtown – sidewalks on both sides of the street, parallel parking on both sides of the street for two blocks, customized parking pocket in the northernmost block, and enhanced crosswalks

Comments made by community members at the June 24th meeting held at the McKenzie High School were taken into consideration for the new design of Blue River Drive.

Another meeting will be scheduled to discuss the design details more broadly.
