LTD Wants to Know How They Can Make Bus Service Better on The McKenzie

Transit Development Listening Sessions

Living up river has its perks, but access to public transportation hasn’t been one of them. For those of us who don’t have a vehicle, it’s been a struggle commuting to work, school, doctor appointments, and the grocery store.

Share your opinions on how we can make public transit better.

Link Lane, a service of the Lane Council of Governments (LCOG), is hosting the second Transit Development Plan meeting at noon on May 18, 2023 to share the results of the first round of outreach and present options to improve transit in our rural areas.

Access to transit in Lane County isn’t just good for the locals,  it’s a key component for our growing tourism economy. Transit helps connect visitors and residents to recreation opportunities throughout the area.

Make Your Voice be Heard – come to the listening session

McKenzie Community Partnership will be there to advocate for better transit services in our community.

Good public transportation is important for our community.

If you can’t be there for the listening session and you have ideas, please send them to us.  Use our contact form.

A collaboration between the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the Lane Council of Governments (LCOG), this project will evaluate the needs and explore options for transit service for rural communities and connections into the Eugene/Springfield area. LCOG’s transit service, Link Lane, currently provides service between Eugene and Florence and Florence and Yachats, but it could expand to meet the growing needs of our rural communities.

The Link Lane Transit Development Plan will establish a framework to:

  • Provide safe, affordable and reliable travel options that are not dependent upon owning a personal vehicle for all residents of and visitors to Lane County.
  • Define Link Lane’s role as a public transportation service provider in Lane County and identify implementation strategies and funding sources to support and expand Link Lane services.
  • Contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through enhanced and expanded public transportation services.

This effort will not examine services within Lane Transit District (shown outlined below) but will look at connections to their services for Lane County’s rural communities.

For more about this project, please visit the Transit Development Plan page.
