I visited with Todd Hedberg, GM of Terra Tech, to get advice on how I can plant 500 trees on our property as efficiently as possible. Remembering my handyman father’s words of wisdom, I wanted to make sure I was getting the right tools.

The thought of planting 500 trees in such short period of time (me being a 57 year old desk jockey), gave me visions of blisters hands and a seriously injured back. Council Container Dibble Planting Bar – this item is best for very rocky soils. It’s a strong, heavy bar that help break up the soil to get the proper space for that root ball in good. It’s strength and weight is it advantage in rocky soils. However, in less rocky soils, the weight may take its toll on you and slow you down.
HoeDad Tree Planting tool – This is the professionals choice. It is exceptional at planting on sloped ground. It’s lighter and therefore faster for most of us. The trick is to get the right sized head for the trees you are planting. If you get your rhythm down nice and proper, you may get to the point where one swing of this axe like tool is all you need to create the Hoel for the root ball.
